Our founder and Medical Director is
Dr. Peter Goh Min Yih.
Dr. Goh was awarded the President Scholarship by President Dr. Benjamin Sheares of Singapore in 1975. He graduated top of the medical class of 1980 from Singapore University. In 1984 he obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgery in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
On returning to Singapore he was appointed Lecturer and senior registrar at the National University and Singapore General Hospital.
In 1986 he was awarded a Fellowship for higher surgical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston. On returning to Singapore he joined the National University Hospital and was appointed Senior Lecturer and consultant surgeon.
Dr. Goh was the founder of the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia which is now a large international Society of surgeons. He was the first General Secretary and has served as President. He also was one of the founding fathers of IFSES, the International Federation of Societies of Endoscopic Surgeons. In the year 2000, Dr. Goh organized the 7th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgeons for ELSA and IFSES and was president of the congress.
After the Congress Dr. Goh was appointed Guest Professor at the University of Cologne in Germany where he stayed 5 years. On return to Singapore he joined Raffles Medical Group and in 2011 was appointed Full Professor at Monash University.
Dr. Goh started the Advanced Surgical Group in 2009 and has spent the last 5 years in the globalization of the group’s activities to allow the benefits of bariatric and metabolic surgery to be enjoyed at affordable costs.
Dr. Goh has written and published 150 scientific papers and 25 textbook chapters on medical and surgical topics and has many international awards for his work in science, medicine and training of surgeons.
